Book Club::The Imitation of Christ

Hello Ladies. I made a vlog (with the help of Leo, this is as real as it gets) to introduce our next book club book, The Imitation of Christ . I think we could easily discuss this book through December which is good for a couple of reasons:

1) We can take our time to read, share and discuss because this book is rich and deep and full of little nuggets meant to be savored. (Are you suddenly craving chocolate?)

2) I don’t know about you all, but I am starting to think about Christmas and using one book for a couple of months sounds pretty economical to me.

Ok, while you were trying to hear me over Leo (sorry about that, but I was running out of time to make this and was not going to redo just becasue of a noisy baby), I just looked through my table of contents and it looks like the book is divided into 4 Books. So lets plan on reading one book a month:

September–I. Admonitions Useful for a Spiritual Life

October–II. Admonitions Concerning the Interior Life

November–III. Concerning the Holy Communion

December–IV. Of Interior Consolation

I’ll meet you all here each Wednesday to discuss The Imitation of Christ by Thomas a’Kempis.

By the way, does anyone know the legend concerning Thomas a’Kempis’ death? It’s pretty interesting!

Welcome! I’m Jenny, the administrator of Suscipio, a home for the Catholic woman on the web. I have been married to Chris 20 years, strictly by the grace of God. We have seven precious souls from teen to baby. I have blogged for years over at A Minute Captured, but this year felt God leading me to start a communal website for Catholic women. I hope my personal contribution to Suscipio shows what my life really looks like; It’s messy and beautiful and blessed beyond measure.

  1. Love baby Leo.. just want to hug him.. miss having babies around… and looking forward to doing this book in small parts…Have a Blessed day!

  2. I can’t stand how cute he is…goodness!!

    Looking forward to reading this with all of you. I do not know anything about his death but am curious ; )

  3. Broken down into months. This will be manageable for me! Meet you here on Wednesdays! Nope, no re-dos! I admire that you do this with your schedule! Have a great day.
